A comprehensive benefit package not only serves to attract and retain high quality employees, it can keep employee morale high and positively impact productivity. According to MetLife’s most recent U.S. Employee Benefit Trends Study (conducted fall of 2016), employees feel that the benefits they receive from work result in less worrying with 74% sharing that having insurance/benefits give them “peace of mind.” This peace of mind allows them to focus on work rather then spend time at work worrying.
The study also found that employees (58%) desire the ability to customize their benefits to meet their needs and employees (52%) are willing to bear more of benefit costs for this customization. Employers can capitalize on this by offering voluntary employee benefits, giving employees easy access to products they want. It’s a win win situation.
